The Hotel Palace Viareggio is a historic Art Nouveau building. Built in 1923, it was converted into a hotel in 1922; in the early 1960s the Marcucci family bought the property and renovated it. The restyling, which took place between 2018 and 2023, focused on the recovery and conservation of all the furnishings. In the room, the bathroom has been completely renovated, as have the Dorelan mattresses, pillows and TV; while the furniture and, where possible, the parquet flooring, have been suitably restored, so they are original from 1960. The floors and furnishings in the common areas have also been preserved, the bar is original from 1960, as are the Murano drop chandeliers. The feeling one gets when entering the hotel is of an experience in the architectural history of the early 20th century. The "Belle Epoque" room, where breakfast is served, is an example of skilful restoration and preservation of retro furnishings, which, combined with the use of precious wallpaper, create an atmosphere of yesteryear. The uniqueness of the structure, has meant that for some time now the Hotel's Bars and Restaurants have become a location frequented by locals; a concept that fits in perfectly with what is our desire, to make the Hotel experience not only the tourists who stay here, but also the Versilian people.

We are dedicated for over 40 years to the hospitality business, by running from their birth both the Hotel Sovestro and the Ristorante da Pode.

In 2017 we decided to broaden our horizons... by buying the Fattoria Sovestro, that we have renovated and renamed "Tenuta Sovestro". Thanks to the 15 hectares of land, that make up the property of the Tenuta, we produce wine Chianti Colli Senesi,Vernaccia, Extra Virgin olive oil, besides two types of grappa.
We obtained our b&b from the 4 apartments of the estate, 3 of which are in the main house and 1 in the Dependance; the b&b includes 16 elegant, technological and functional rooms with bathroom. Every room stands out for its structural characteristics and furnishing features.

The history of the Failli family and of this property began in 1962, when our great-grandfather Gianni (known as Brinchio) had the brilliant idea of buying "Il Podere della Curva dell'Esse" as it was called by the locals, where he sensed something special could be born , something that could change his family's future.
Brinchio's daughter had married grandfather Pode, who at the time was a master shoemaker in San Gimignano, also collaborating with Ferragamo, who had her origins here.
Pode, who came from humble origins, had collaborated with local restaurants as a waiter in his free time since he was a boy; his passion was being among people... but he didn't want to know about working the land, much less about trading his father-in-law's livestock.
For about 20 years from the time of purchase, the Sovestro farm was managed on a sharecropping basis with the family of farmers who had always taken care of it until the 80s, when grandfather Pode, father Sergio and mother Lucia began to renovate the farmhouse and after a lot of work and sacrifices, in 1985 they opened the da Pode restaurant under their home. The success was immediate and after about a decade the Hotel Sovestro also came to life.
Finally, in 2017 the farm in front of the property was put up for sale... how can you resist the temptation?

The landscape that surrounds the elegant and sober building of Sovestro is very suggestive: from the balconies and garden one can enjoy the splendid view of stretches of land planted with vines and olive-trees, that change colour with the variations of the sunlight. Their soft reliefs attract the eye to the marvellous outline of San Gimignano.

In this enchanting place it is our custom to welcome visitors in a hall that was specially restructured, where they can taste farming products.

A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993, the Sassi represent a unique hamlet throughout Italy: the earliest inhabitants date back to the stone and bronze age, in the middle ages it boasted several monastic communities and later became a vibrant farming centre.

Le Grotte della Civita is placed in the oldest part of the Sassi, the CIVITA, facing the spectacular Murgia park and its rock-hewn churches. It comprises 18 rooms and an ancient church, the “Cripta della Civita”, now used as a common area, all renovated to retain their original features.

The Sant'Angelo is a widespread hotel located in the heart of the historic center of the Sassi of Matera.
The Sassi districts are in a Limited Traffic Zone, therefore it is not possible to reach the hotel by car.
Pleasure and pain of the Sassi di Matera are the characteristic staircases, for which we recommend a comfortable outfit and comfortable shoes.

Parking
The Sassi are located in a Restricted Traffic Zone with no car access. For this reason, it is not possible to reach our facility by car.
We suggest, therefore, our affiliated parking lot “Sant'Isidoro"(https://maps.app.goo.gl/B4m4GDyaPS11Bv767) located at Via Lanera No. 16 

You will need to give us your license plate to allow automatic access when you arrive. Should the bar not be raised, we ask that you collect your ticket and give it to us once you arrive at our location. 
Parking service has a cost per car of €20.00 per day that will be charged directly at the facility.
Once you reach the parking lot our shuttle will pick you up to take you to the facility.
